High-Bay Warehouse at KRONES in Nittenau – Increased Efficiency and Storage Capacity for a Growing Site

Intralogistics requirements on site: To expand storage capacity and further increase the efficiency of internal processes, System Logistics is implementing a fully automated high-bay warehouse with an Automated Small Parts Warehouse (AS/RS) at the site – one of the largest ongoing intralogistics projects in the region. What began as a vision on the drawing board is now taking increasingly tangible shape. This article highlights the progress of the project through two key milestones.

By the end of May 2026, the finish line was in sight: installation of the racking, roof and walls was around 90 percent complete. The structural foundations were in place, shifting the focus to the technical equipment. Thanks to close coordination between all parties involved, construction progressed according to schedule.

The next steps were already clearly defined:

• Installation of three stacker cranes in the high-bay warehouse by the end of June 2026. 
• Installation of the stacker cranes for the Automated Small Parts Warehouse (AS/RS) in July 2026.

In July 2026, the time had come: the stacker cranes were successfully installed in the high-bay warehouse – a major step towards commissioning. Both the external appearance and the technical infrastructure of the warehouse are increasingly taking shape.

The installed stacker cranes are a prime example of the System Logistics approach: a carefully planned vision is transformed step by step into a state-of-the-art intralogistics solution – precise, reliable and delivered on schedule.

At the same time, final work on the building envelope is progressing at full speed alongside the technical installation.
